Almost half of the population in Teupasenti is under the age of 15. Most children are fatherless as a result of the men leaving home to find jobs elsewhere.
Part of the goal of CRM is to provide the local young people with life-skills to create a viable future for themselves. CRM offers empowerment seminars for women, couples counseling to promote healthy relationships and stable futures, life choice coaching and spiritual guidance for all age groups. Creating jobs which provide income is crucial to the overall economic health of the community. Doing so will encourage individuals to stay within the valley rather than emigrate to larger cities or to North America.
As CRM grows, it creates more jobs in teaching, construction, farming and hospitality in order to further
the goal of revitalizing the region to help the villagers create their future at home.
CRM has a modest farm nearby along the Rio Jalan. A few cattle graze in fallow fields and provide some meat. Farming produces beans, corn, grain and bananas – all farmed by hand and burro. There is no power, no tractor and no irrigation.
